Building Accessible web sites in India

Having a accessible website, is never a concern for most people in India, who wish to build a web site or already have a website. The reason for this I feel is the web masters who do not promote the cause.

There are web masters who boast of their knowledge of the language DHTML (someone tell them that it is not even a language). These people will give their clients websites with all the "so called" hi fi effects from mouse pointer trailing images to those annoying marquee tags and will put a banner on the website telling its visitors that it can be only viewed in specific version of a certain browser.

The marketing genius may sell you this website which would work only in a certain version browser, telling you that, you have an exclusive high end website design which would work only on the latest version browsers.

Whatever they tell you... I feel such site only tell its visitors
"We don't care for your business and please dump your favorite browser if you wanna buy from this space."
I would go as far as calling them discriminative too.

After all this you may ask me what accessible websites would mean. It is making websites for everyone. The differently abled persons have browsers meant to suit their needs. So using Clean and good valid Standard Coding on the website will insure that the website is visible in older browsers as well take for example valid XHTML, it also takes care of backward compatibility. this is something to start with... if you are interested in reading further about web accessibility, we suggest you visit the W3C website.

At our Web site Design Company in Mumbai, India we have always striven for cross browser compatible web sites and kept ourself posted about the happenings of the world wide web, So that are services are upto web standards.
